During the disco craze in the mid seventies, a new group was formed in America. Called Village People, the group’s creator Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo initially intended Village People to target the gay audience from the disco crazed community.
Village People however became so popular that eventually they had to spread their wings into the mainstream to entertain every body.
The group scored a number of disco and dance hits, including “Macho Man”, “Go West”, the classic club medley of “San Francisco (You’ve Got Me) / In Hollywood”, “In the Navy”, and their greatest hit, “Y.M.C.A.”. They have sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
