Deep Purple – Biography
Deep Purple the English rock band was one of the first bands who made heads turn with heavy metal and modern hard rock. Formed in Hertford in 1968, the band’s line-up was changed many times during their 8 year career. Their form of loud music earned them the dubious honour of being listed as “the globe’s loudest band” in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Hugely successful during their eight years from 1976 to 1984, Deep Purple sold over 100 million albums worldwide, though it was never smooth sailing for the band. There were constant changes among band members, splitting and getting on solo careers throughout the 70s.
Deep Purple was revived by Steve Morse in 1994 and till today remains active and in the 2011 Classic Rock Awards in London, they won the Innovator Award. However till today, they have not been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
